what's to come when a lawyer (the bad guys of every day and age) has a better grasp on reality than the social workers (who have devoted their career to a system specifically designed to make the world a better place)?

all it takes is one glow bug
puttering down the road
like a shaky white dodge neon
with its four way flashers on

and if you look around
you'll see fields that put orion and cassiopeia to shame
that would put star maps out of business
if everybody knew

head-first to the bug zappers,
hoping for even an instant of light)

You're so creative with how you yawn
to show that you're too tired to think
sick and tired of having to exert an effort 

show me a good stretch

show it to the kids who made your clothes
they'll be glad their sweatshop blindness is being put to good use

today is always just another yesterday
you never really moved past high school
middle school really, with toned down hormones
(or at least a better sense of social acceptability (sometimes))
grade school, but with 80% more sexuality
skipping class, hopes of moving away

happy to have been
glad to be headed somewhere
but now, here, you say, is nowhere

but what's so bad about today?

blot out the darkness
and turn on the light
we're conquering nature
(the battle 'gainst night)

the war has its blessings
new means to our ends
but what will we do if,
whenever we win?

we all secretly worship the same God(s)
creator of trees and things
the unmoved mover who birthed a universe
breathing out stellar gusts of wind
making everything sway and dance
as the animals appeared one by one
healthy boys
and girls
and plants

but in the mean time we fight
over whose version is more mysterious
