it is an insult to say that humans are "mere animals" 

it underestimates both human and animal capabilities

the trick to eating cookies that are slightly burned on the bottom:

put them in your mouth upside-down

the temptation to lounge around outside
isn't nearly as convincing
if you've nobody nearby
with whom to share the afternoon

I don't want to play the game of trying to fit into this backward culture

you don't need to fear the people who are extremely rich

it's those who are jonesing for their own fortune, who are tied up in the middle

the stories and songs of our culture create our morals

with this in mind, looking at the top 10 movies and albums is kinda scary 

can knowledge really save everything, or should we occasionally just let worry to the wind?

why do we fight so hard to save our way of life?

scientifically minded people expect rationality to win the day... but what they sometimes forget is the randomness of the evolutionary/adaptive processes that brought us these big brains. sometimes you wind up with crazy shit, like the platypus, but it all works toward a reasonably well-functioning method/object for handling problems: humans!
to expect the product of these haphazard processes to behave any less scatterbrained is just preposterous!

in short: adaptation is not a thought process

I drink from the computer screen

as if it were alcohol

to live past 100 is to see the passing of 12-25 presidents

but  how many people around will remember that time in highschool
who will be around for you to share your cookies
what sorts of conversations did you ever have with a president

what we need isn't more innovation, but more implementation.

what good is it to invent if we never use?

society cheers
for their cross-country trips
to view the death
of billions
of leaves

much of progress relies on waiting around for old ideas to die

often these ideas have children who accidentally step in the cow shit

so these stick around for a while longer

a falling leaf
makes it look so slow and graceful
but have you tried catching one?

it's not that I'm distractable
but more so, that I cannot distract myself
with work
with games
with television
from trying to understand bigger questions
so much else just seems unimportant
