oh dear, that's a lot of archive!
elsewhere
10.27.09 (11:10 pm)   [edit]
haikooligan.wordpress.com

what are we?
07.02.09 (4:07 pm)   [edit]

it is an insult to say that humans are "mere animals"

it underestimates both human and animal capabilities

mister clean
06.28.09 (11:38 pm)   [edit]
sometimes I like to pretend that my roommates leave the dishes sitting there for me to wash purely because I do such a fine job of it.

reverse that frown
06.13.09 (11:40 pm)   [edit]

the trick to eating cookies that are slightly burned on the bottom:

put them in your mouth upside-down

lazy summer days
06.12.09 (8:21 pm)   [edit]

the temptation to lounge around outside
isn't nearly as convincing
if you've nobody nearby
with whom to share the afternoon

simultenacious
06.01.09 (4:36 am)   [edit]
one problem with being unique is the lack of people to share an open, winding, and interesting discourse

problems
05.08.09 (12:22 am)   [edit]

can't change them

can change me

let's go

trapped
04.22.09 (12:46 am)   [edit]

I don't want to play the game of trying to fit into this backward culture

(but I don't know what to do instead)

aaaaaaaaaaa
04.16.09 (1:53 am)   [edit]

there's just
too
damn
much

to do
03.30.09 (2:01 am)   [edit]
1. move beyond "that's interesting" toward "that's worthwhile"

money=power=corruption?
03.19.09 (2:39 am)   [edit]

you don't need to fear the people who are extremely rich

it's those who are jonesing for their own fortune, who are tied up in the middle

defining right and wrong
03.10.09 (1:39 am)   [edit]

the stories and songs of our culture create our morals

with this in mind, looking at the top 10 movies and albums is kinda scary

mediator
02.22.09 (5:17 am)   [edit]
the world is full of beautiful people -- on both sides of every argument

flux
02.06.09 (2:32 am)   [edit]

can knowledge really save everything, or should we occasionally just let worry to the wind?

why do we fight so hard to save our way of life?

who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
01.26.09 (3:27 am)   [edit]
from witches to communists
at least now
as we hunt for terrorists
we've learned to look
outside of ourselves
when searching for evil

calling out
12.27.08 (3:16 am)   [edit]
a doctrine of self-reliance wouldn't seem so terrible if everyone (anyone?) was truly capable of relying on them selves

hindsight
12.08.08 (9:02 pm)   [edit]

scientifically minded people expect rationality to win the day... but what they sometimes forget is the randomness of the evolutionary/adaptive processes that brought us these big brains. sometimes you wind up with crazy shit, like the platypus, but it all works toward a reasonably well-functioning method/object for handling problems: humans!
to expect the product of these haphazard processes to behave any less scatterbrained is just preposterous!

in short: adaptation is not a thought process

addiction
11.27.08 (2:36 am)   [edit]

I drink from the computer screen

as if it were alcohol

longevity
11.09.08 (1:42 am)   [edit]

to live past 100 is to see the passing of 12-25 presidents

but  how many people around will remember that time in highschool
who will be around for you to share your cookies
what sorts of conversations did you ever have with a president

comparative
10.28.08 (12:10 am)   [edit]
but animals don't write poetry

consequences
10.23.08 (10:38 pm)   [edit]

what we need isn't more innovation, but more implementation.

what good is it to invent if we never use?

twisted
10.19.08 (10:07 pm)   [edit]

what kind of sick
morbid
society cheers
for their cross-country trips
to view the death
of billions
of leaves

end of an era
10.17.08 (7:49 am)   [edit]

much of progress relies on waiting around for old ideas to die

often these ideas have children who accidentally step in the cow shit

so these stick around for a while longer

agility
10.13.08 (8:40 pm)   [edit]

a falling leaf
makes it look so slow and graceful
but have you tried catching one?

productivity
09.28.08 (3:29 am)   [edit]

it's not that I'm distractable
but more so, that I cannot distract myself
with work
with games
with television
from trying to understand bigger questions
so much else just seems unimportant
